“Finding Clarity in the Chaos”, Episode 25

Nicole Thomas is one of those singular people that you meet along the way; curious, observant, calm, literally has a twinkle in her eye and is completely fearless when it comes to social media. The woman has it down to a science, a total pro- I would watch her do her Instagram thing and marvel, "note to self: be more like Nicole- fearless”. I was delighted to be a guest on her show, also nervous AF- I knew my Midwestern twang was going to be large and in charge. But if there is anything I learned from Nicole, it was to be my authentic self and not shy away. Her Q & A was a breeze, and I hear alot of joy in our conversation. Something we need more of in our chaotic world. If you are interested is listening about art, process and life, give it a go and follow her podcast here.

Caught up in a spiral of “what if I never have an idea again?”

Then, Color Puddles…

I have those moments where I wonder if my brain has genuinely just quit having ideas? End scene, kaput, done-zo. Realizing that it was taking way too much energy to fret, I turned off all the screens and sat down at my work table. I found an old, souvenir book of the photographic plates from Basilica of Saint Antonio in Padua, Italy. It was so old that it had been bound together with ribbon threaded through the holes and given we are having this massive Papal moment, it just made sense.

I started with Cardinal robe red blobs and puddles, and guess what, I still have ideas, better yet, I still know how to play. These flew together easily and quickly. It was a great reminder that sometimes you just need to sit, look and let your hands go.
